Google Innovation Awards honor East Africans who have come up with innovative solutions. This
award usually brings together leaders and different players in the East African
IT sector. Google provides a platform that fosters innovation that is geared
towards the public sector.

The main aim of this award is usually to encourage
innovation in the ICT sector.
Categories of the award
This award is usually divided into a number of categories that
have category winners. The categories are: financial services category, special
category focusing on counties, innovation in poverty reduction, innovation in
vulnerable groups such as youth, innovation in health care delivery, wholesale
and retail trade, innovation in tourism and innovation in agriculture.
Prizes
All the category
winners get online advertising spending vouchers, tablets (Samsung Galaxy 8)
and Google App subscriptions. The overall winner and runner ups get pixel
laptop and Nexus Q.
